Inauguration of the ITB Geology Alumni Inscription “GEA” Class of 1973
Still in a series of commemoration of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) 1920 – 2020, on Thursday 26 November 2020, ITB Chancellor Reini Wirahadikusumah represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology (FITB) ITB, Irwan Meilano, inaugurated the ITB Geology Alumni Inscription “GEA “Class of 1973.
The inauguration of the 1973 ITB “GEA” inscription is part of a donation program for the ITB endowment fund through Salam Ganesha which has been collected with tilenaming activities held in the framework of ITB’s One Century Commemoration. The inscription that enshrines 55 Names of ITB Geology Alumni Class of 1973 is attached to a Granite Stone from Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan Province.
In geology, granite is known as a very hard and sturdy igneous rock, formed by the minerals quartz, feldspar, plagioclase and muscovite.
Dean of FITB ITB, Irwan Meilano expressed his gratitude and high appreciation for the program initiated by the 1973 ITB Geology Alumni.
On the 100th Anniversary of ITB, in addition to the inauguration of the 1973 ITB Geological Alumni Inscription, the ITB Geological Academic Community also welcomed the launch of a Monumental Book entitled: “INTRODUCTION TO THE GEOLOGY OF INDONESIA” by Prof. Dr.RP Koesoemadinata, Professor of Geology ITB.
Representing ITB Geology Alumni Class of 1973, Indroyono Soesilo, who was the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs in the 2014-2019 Work Cabinet, thanked the ITB Chancellor for the approval of placing the 1973 ITB Geological Alumni Inscription in ITB Park, as well as signing the Inauguration Inscription.
Indroyono also expressed his gratitude to the Chairman of the ITB Alumni Association, Dr. Ridwan Djamaluddin, who also agreed to sign the 1973 GEA ITB Geological Alumni Inscription.
