ITB Class of ’80 Celebrates Independence Day at Gunung Padang Megalithic Site & Situ Gunung
In the lead-up to their 45th Reunion, the ITB Class of 1980 celebrated Indonesia’s Independence Day with strong national spirit and a commitment to social impact.
This year’s flag-raising ceremony was held at the Gunung Padang Megalithic Site in Cianjur — one of the oldest known megalithic sites in the world.
Since 2015, this annual tradition has blended gratitude for independence, love for the homeland, nature appreciation, and community service.
The 2025 Social Contribution Program included:
- Donation of 12 composting drums for organic waste management
- Renovation and donation of prayer equipment to a local mosque
- Donation and symbolic planting of 60 fruit trees
- Provision of clean water for 4 months to the Gunung Padang Museum
The group also visited Situ Gunung on August 16 for reflection, nature appreciation, and bonding.
A special highlight was a presentation by Dr. Danny Hilman, a geologist and fellow ITB ’80 alum, who shared insights on the historical significance of Gunung Padang.
Driven by the spirit of “For God, the Nation, and the Land”, the ITB Class of ’80 continues to give back—helping build a better, stronger, and more sustainable Indonesia.
Happy Independence Day, Indonesia! 🇮🇩
