Prof. Dr. Euis Holisotan Hakim, MS & Prof. Dr. Yasraf Amir Piliang, MA receive the Habibie Prize 2020

The Habibie Prize is an award given to individuals or bodies that are considered to be active and have great contribution in discovering, developing and disseminating new science and technology that are beneficial for improving welfare, justice and peace. The 2020 Habibie Prize includes awards in the fields of basic science, biotechnology, engineering, and humanities. This year, ITB Alumni who won the Habibie Prize were Prof. Dr. Euis Holisotan Hakim, MS and Prof. Dr. Yasraf Amir Piliang, MA.

 

Prof. Dr. Euis Holisotan Hakim, MS (Chemistry ’74) who won the 2020 Habibie Prize in Basic Sciences is a Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) in the field of Natural Products Chemistry who is part of the Organic Chemistry Expertise Group. He completed his undergraduate education program in 1980, master program in 1989, and doctoral program in 1994 at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Besides being active as a lecturer, he is involved in various organizations such as the Indonesian Chemical Society, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), The American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP), and the Indonesian Natural Product Chemical Society.

 

Prof. Dr. Yasraf Amir Piliang, MA (Art ’76), who won the 2020 Habibie Prize in Cultural Sciences is a Professor at the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) who is part of the Design Sciences and Visual Culture Expertise Group. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Arts and Design, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Then Master of Art (MA) from Central Saint Martins College of Art & amp; Design, London, UK, and a Doctoral degree from the Faculty of Art and Design, ITB. Yasraf Amir Piliang is known as a philosopher, cultural thinker, academic, and social observer. He is the founder of the Yasraf Amir Piliang Institute, an institution that studies contemporary culture.
